Positive Affirmations For Healthy Pregnancy

Affirmations can be incredibly helpful during pregnancy.

If you’ve been around for a while, you may know I have a love-hate relationship with affirmations. This is because repeating sentences that you don’t believe and don’t feel good to you won’t help you. The key is to find affirmations that you believe and that feel good to you. Then it works like magic. In my membership program, Grow You, I call them “Thoughts To Borrow” so instead of affirming anything and everything, you try the thought on, see how it feels, and keep it if you like it.

The Mayo Clinic discusses how positive thinking doesn’t just mean you think positive thoughts all day long, it’s more of how you approach negativity and walk into it in a more positive way. You can read more on that here.

When you’re considering pregnancy affirmations for a healthy pregnancy, the most important part of it is to choose thoughts that really feel good for you when you repeat them. When you do this, you’ll feel better, more positive, and even healthier.

The reason affirmations (that feel good) work is because what you believe will become your reality.

For example, if you believe that pregnancy is mostly an amazing, wonderful journey, you’ll likely find evidence to prove that true, and that will be your actual experience (because you’ll ignore and downplay any evidence to the contrary). You’re always proving true what you believe.

30+ Positive Affirmations For A Healthy Pregnancy

Here’s a list of positive affirmations for a healthy pregnancy.

Remember affirmations are statements that feel good. Try them on. See how they feel. Keep the affirmations that feel good to you. Ditch those that don’t. Since we all have different neuropathways in our brains, what feels good to you may not be what feels good to the next person. This is why personally thinking and saying the affirmation is a great way to see how it actually feels. Then decide whether it’s an affirmation you want to use regularly to feel better. Trust your instincts.

4 Benefits Of Positive Affirmations During Pregnancy

When affirmations are used correctly (and you feel better when you say them), they have tremendous benefits.

Here’s a look at just how powerful they can be.

Benefit 1: Reduced stress, anxiety, and worry

When you feel better after repeating affirmations, you raise your energy, which feels really good.

This has the effect of reducing stress, anxiety, and worry because you’re focused and thinking about the good, instead of the bad.

When you think positive thoughts, you feel positive feelings, and you show up in a positive way in your life.

Benefit 2: Increased confidence

Affirmations are powerful because they can help you create a newfound confidence you wouldn’t otherwise have.

When you’re thinking thoughts that feel empowering, you increase your capabilities and ultimately your confidence.

Benefit 3: A more positive view of the future

When your life and body are changing so quickly during pregnancy, it can be easy to focus on the past (how your body “used to be”).

Affirmations can help you become future-focused and create a much more positive view of the future.

What you focus on expands. So, when you focus on the future, you bring it to you. In a very real way, you’ll have a more positive experience if you view the future more positively.

Benefit 4: Turns criticisms into self compassion

When you direct your mind, criticism can turn into self compassion.

Instead of listening to the harsh judgments, your mind has when you’re not managing it (example: “my body looks huge and horrible right now”), using positive affirmations is a way to talk back to yourself.

I call this your “Inner Critic and Inner Coach.” On default, your Inner Critic is in charge. However, you can manage your mind and use affirmations to talk back to yourself with your Inner Coach.

Your Inner Coach loves you, supports you, and has compassion for you and your entire motherhood journey.

A Final Note!

Directing your mind using affirmations that feel good to you is an amazing way to practice intentional thinking so that you have a happier and healthier pregnancy.

This is the beauty of “thought work” — it’s working on yourself from the inside out. And if you do the work, it works.
